Completed Projects

Here are some new projects that Food For Children sponsors. We ask your continued generous financial support for these important projects.

Nurses Training Program

The nurses training is a three year program at this point. The cost for one year training which includes hostel / living accommodation and all expenses is $1,370.00. For the three years is $4,110.00. We have been sponsoring young people for this program from the hospital, mainly our cleaners who have finished their high school. Most are from quite poor families and are not able to fund this training.

Therapeutic Feeding Program

For the Therapeutic Feeding program, there were 380 admissions last year. The cost per admission is about $51.14. If possible the parents pay about $5.68 if they can. The child may come to the hospital with pneumonia, TB, etc. and is also malnourished. So you can calculate, the cost of care is expensive for us. But teaching the young mothers how to properly care and feed their child is important. All help needed and appreciated.

Water Well Development

For the water well development we work with the local communities, mainly to protect springs / and / or do a hand dug well. The cost averages about $3,500.00 for a spring and/or a well. First choice is a protected spring. If this is not possible, then we try for a hand dug well. A borehole drilling, when needed, is very expensive and, in general, we do not have the money for it.
